The Indian media is now full of heart-wrenching images and videos of migrant workers, the children, women carrying, and pulling kids. There is also another kind of news — ordinary people with extraordinary acts of kindles, love, service are found on the road. They are feeding those who are walking to reach their native villages, distributing footwear, arranging vehicles for safe transportation. There are many who are feeding stray animals. If you are feeling helpless to see the sufferings and wanting to contribute, then this post will help you how to contribute people in need during the pandemic without making yourself vulnerable to the virus.

1. Use Social media platforms

If you are reading this post, it’s most probable that you have a smartphone and messaging app like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Twitter. You may join a different Facebook page like Care mongers India to collect data about the needy people. You can reach out to them directly.

2. Donate to the organizations who are working with communities

Few organizations, which I know personally and can vouch for their authenticity. One such organization is The Nazareth Foundation who had supplied grocery for 15 days to 50 families in Mumbai slum during the first lockdown. She asks people to go to the nearest grocery store and pays through Paytm/google pay after the bill. She had helped more than 10,000 people

3. Help your domestic help, vegetable vendors, security personnel

They are the most marginalized people who get affected during the pandemic. Help them with the required food items that their family needs. You can continue their monthly salary even if they aren’t able to come for work. Let's not forget their contributions, they had made our lives easy. They had lessened our burden, taken care of kids, and protected our house. It’s our turn now to protect them.
